Vinay is a direct disciple of the world renowned Santoor Maestro Padma Vibhusan Pandit Shivkumar Sharmaji. After completing his college in Delaware, Vinay sought out to learn Santoor in India. Having had some background training in tabla and vocal, in 2011, Pandit Shivkumar Sharmaji guided Vinay to begin his training under Takahiro Arai and Kunal Gunjal, before being accepted by Panditji himself. Vinay regularly performs throughout USA, including Hawaii, Argentina, Canada, The Bahamas, Australia, and India.  He has performed for some of the well known organizations and prestigious festivals in different countries including Fringe Festival in Adelaide, Mona Foma in Tasmania, Looza Palooza festival in Argentina (Vinay was the first santoor player to play in Argentina and that too with an orchestra), Festival of Tabla in L.A., KBF Festival in Arizona, Kussum Mahotsav TSA in NJ, Darpan in Texas, Jaipur Literature Festival, SwarZankar in Pune, Hamsadhwani, Matra in Kolkata, Nita Mukesh Ambani center in Mumbai, Starglam Entertainment in Canada, among many others. Though specializing in Indian Classical Music, Vinay has worked with all genres with shows of Bollywood music, Hollywood music, Theater and drama music, Jazz, and western Classical. He is known for his meditative and dynamic musical phrases. His devotion to the purity and the depth of Shivkumar Sharma’s style comes forth in performance. Vinay continues to spread his Guru’s work not only through performances, but also teaching and lecturing at different places. He has performed with legends including Ustad Tari khan, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, Ustad Sukhvinder Singh Pinky. and some of the most glamorous upcoming Tabla players. The concert will begin with a meditative melodic improvisation that takes the listeners to a place of deep stillness. Once the mood of the raag is set and the ambience built, the tabla player will join Vinay in creating powerful rhythmic phrases that take the listeners on a melodic and rhythmic journey. The concert usually ends with a fast paced piece that enthralls the audience. Usually, this classical piece can last for about 1 hour and 15 minutes followed by a semi classical devotional piece. Vinay is known for his superlative melodic improvisations and sharp sense of rhythm. With a tabla player, they have an astonishing ability to embrace, dive into and reinterpret traditional music. 

Ravi Venugopalan is a Tabla Artist with over 10 years of training in the traditional Guru-Shishya parampara. He is a Ganda Bandhan disciple of Pandit Anindo Chatterjee and has also trained under shri Anubrata Chatterjee and Ustad Faiyaz Khan Dilli Gharana.

Artists Bio:

Sama Shakti and Julian Baker are a musical duo whose work bridges folk, ambient soundscapes, mantra, and transformational music to create immersive experiences that awaken the heart. Blending soulful original songs, sacred chants, healing frequencies, and rich instrumental textures, they invite audiences into a shared journey where music becomes an experience of presence, connection, and community.

Sama Shakti is a singer-songwriter and sound practitioner whose music is rooted in the belief that voice is not performance – it is prayer. For more than twenty years, she has been creating spaces through music, sound healing, and collective singing that inspire authentic expression, resilience, and belonging. Her original albums, Simple & Profound and Heart Song, reflect her passion for weaving together storytelling, nature, and the healing power of the human voice.

Julian Baker, born in the United Kingdom to professional musician parents, has been immersed in music since childhood, performing in orchestras and ensembles before earning a bachelor’s degree in jazz. After working as a producer and musician in New York City recording studios, his path expanded through meditation, yoga, and years of exploring the therapeutic potential of sound. Now based in New York’s Hudson Valley, he composes expansive ambient music that supports meditation, inner balance, and wellbeing through his project, MindSoul Music.

Together, Sama and Julian create concerts that blur the line between performer and audience, inviting listeners to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with themselves and one another. Anāhata Nāda- Heart Awakening Music is a celebration of presence, harmony, and the timeless power of singing and sound to heal, unite, and transform.
