Hindustani Classical Performance

An evening of Hindustani classical music with Alec Goldfarb, a Brooklyn-based guitarist exploring a distinct approach to raga performance on guitar. Drawing from years of study and immersion in the tradition, his work translates the depth and nuance of raga into a new instrumental voice without losing its structure or discipline.

The recital will unfold in a classical format, moving through slow, meditative development into more rhythmic and dynamic sections.

Barzakh Café also offers a curated selection of small plates and drinks. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, ease into the evening, and enjoy something from the kitchen or bar before the program begins. Happy Hour All Year.

The Jazz Ghazal Project

The Jazz Ghazal Project brings mid-20th century musical traditions from two continents into direct conversation. At its core is a shared emotional vocabulary: love, loss, distance, and longing. In original, one-of-a-kind arrangements, vocalist Kaushik and pianist Sharik Hasan place selections from the Great American Songbook alongside Urdu ghazals from India and Pakistan, revealing how these traditions echo and challenge one another.
