Taboo Jazz x Red Pavilion Jazz Band

Dive deep into the sultry sounds of dirty blues and hot jazz by the Red Pavilion Jazz Band as we resurrect the forbidden anthems of the early 20th century, exploring themes deemed socially scandalous and morally obscene.

We will be rehabilitating contentious songs about race, and glorifying thinly veiled songs about sex, drugs and booze, with melodies so steamy, they would make a flapper flushed with fever.

Organico at Barzakh

Organico groove collective is a New York–based collective of musicians blending Caribbean and South American musical traditions under the broad umbrella of jazz. Drawing from Afrobeat, Andean music, and hard bop, the quartet creates a sound rooted in groove, improvisation, and deep rhythmic conversation. Their music reflects both the cultural diversity of New York City and a shared commitment to exploring jazz as a living, evolving language—one that honors tradition while embracing new influences and collective expression.

Barzakh Café also offers a curated selection of small plates and drinks. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, ease into the evening, and enjoy something from the kitchen or bar before the program begins. Happy Hour All Year.

Oscar Noriega’s CROOKED QUARTET

For years, composer and multi-instrumentalist OSCAR NORIEGA brought his Crooked Trio to Barbès every Friday from 5 to 7 – which he had conceived as a vehicle for his drumming.
Oscar is back with his crooked ways, but concentrating on his main instruments, alto saxophone and clarinets. The sets will retain the casual vibe of the trio, with a mixture of standards and Oscar’s compositions.
