Dawoud the Renegade Sufi: Architect of Sonic Revolutions

Visionary iconoclasts don’t just dismantle the old—they rebuild the world with fire and grace.
Dawoud Kringle—composer, improviser, and sonic architect—wields his Dautar (a guitar-cello-sitar hybrid of his own vision) like a blueprint for auditory liberation. His music isn’t just heard—it rewires the soul, fusing Sufi devotion, jazz rebellion, and cinematic vastness into a soundtrack for the future’s raw nerve.
This is disruption with purpose.
For those who crave music that doesn’t entertain—but awakens.

Barzakh Café also offers a curated selection of small plates and drinks. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, ease into the evening, and enjoy something from the kitchen or bar before the program begins. Happy Hour All Year.

Harris-McCoy EP Release / Cole Quest & The City Pickers

7:30pm Doors, 8:00pm Show
$20 adv / $25 DOS

Harris McCoy is the country side of Brooklyn singer songwriter Alden Harris-McCoy. Raised in Oregon by a hillbilly and a hippie, Harris was fed on equal parts biscuits, gravy, and green goddess dressing. His debut EP “Dress Up Like a Cowboy” tackles classic country tropes like beer and trucks while not shying away from urban themes like delivery bikes and laundromats. If Terry Allen and Waylon Jennings had a lovechild and John Prine raised it in Brooklyn, it might sound a lot like “Dress Up Like a Cowboy.” The EP was recorded mostly live to 8-track tape and features an all-star crew of musicians from the Brooklyn Country scene: Chris Parker on drums, Dave Speranza on bass, Jack McLoughlin on pedal steel, and Alex Hargreaves on fiddle.

Rooted in tradition yet driven by a restless New York energy, Cole Quest and The City Pickers carry American folk music forward with wit, warmth, and originality. Led by dobro player, songwriter, and vocalist Cole Quest — grandson of folk icon Woody Guthrie — the band blends the storytelling spirit of folk with the drive and precision of bluegrass, creating a sound that feels both timeless and immediate. Their latest album, Homegrown (Jalopy Records, 2025), produced by Grammy Award–winning engineer Steve Rosenthal, features original songs alongside reimagined works by John Hartford, Peter Rowan, and Woody Guthrie. Praised by No Depression, Songlines (UK), Glide Magazine, and the Berkshire Eagle, the band has also been featured on the cover of Bluegrass Standard and in Bluegrass Unlimited. Since forming in 2017, they’ve toured Germany multiple times, won the Podunk Bluegrass Festival band competition, and shared stages with artists including Billy Strings, Sierra Hull, and Tony Trischka, all while building performances rooted as much in community and joy as in musical tradition.
